Brief information

J2K is one of the variants of JPEG 2000

This is not a typo or a "broken JPG", but a separate way to store an image.

JPEG 2000 was created as a more modern image compression format. It hasn't become commonplace, so many standard viewers don't associate the J2K extension with it.

J2K, JPG2, JP2 and JPC are similar formats

These are different extensions of the JPEG 2000 family. For regular viewing, they have one solution: make a compatible JPG.
