OPUS to MP3 online
OPUS is a voice message from a messenger. The codec is excellent, but outside the app the file opens in very little — converting to MP3 settles it.

Where a file with an .opus extension comes from
Opus was designed for real-time conversation and does that job better than anything else: intelligible speech at 16–24 kbps, resilience to lost packets, minimal latency. That is why it carries voice messages in WhatsApp and Telegram, calls in Discord and Zoom, and audio in browser video chats.
The trouble starts when a message is exported out of the chat. The messenger plays it; Windows Media Player, a car stereo, transcription software or an editor often will not. MP3 is the safe choice — everything reads it, including hardware twenty years old.
Why people save voice messages
To put them on record: transcribe a conversation, hand a recording to a lawyer, archive a thread, send it to someone who is not on the messenger, or simply listen in the car.
Speech stays small after conversion too: a minute as MP3 at 64 kbps is about 0.5 MB, so even a long exchange fits into one modest archive — files can be uploaded in a batch.
Common questions
What opens an OPUS file?
A browser or VLC — both know the format. If you need it in a program that does not, convert the OPUS to MP3.
Will the quality get worse?
Marginally: the audio is re-encoded from one lossy format into another. On speech the difference is practically inaudible and intelligibility stays complete.
Why is the MP3 bigger than the original OPUS?
Because Opus is more efficient at low bitrates: what it fits into 24 kbps takes MP3 around 64 kbps for comparable clarity. The extra weight is the price of compatibility.
Can I convert several voice messages at once?
Yes. Upload them together or as a ZIP archive — each file is processed separately and the result comes back as an archive.
